First off BIRTHDAYS ARE THE BEST!!! I absolutely love my birthday!!! I feel like a king when it's December 10th. It's your day and just seems like you should feel special or something ha ha. I do feel special (I think it is because of the emphasis and excitement our family puts on it). I recieved a birthday song from everyone. 5 from mom 9 from Jamie ha ha I love it. Heather wanted to make me breakfast but since I love cooking I asked her if I could make our family breakfast and so I did. over easy eggs, toast, hash browns, sausage and juice so good. (I know so difficult to cook McKay ha ha). So I came home got to cook breakfast than we headed over for an interview with an apartment complex across the street. After that we did what has now become a family tradition, (and would suggest it for all families), and bought a permit to go hunt and cut down a christmas tree. I consider myself clark on christmas vacation taking his family out to get a tree ha ha. So we went to pine valley mountains about 30-45 minutes from our house. I love it because not only is the drive so beautiful but being in the mountains was so fun. This is our third year doing this together and it gets better each time. (especially since it was MalaKai's first time). It is so fun to find what we always think is the perfect tree. So we found it and I had the honors of cutting it down. I think when our kids get older that will be part of the tradition each year will be someones special turn to help dad cut it down. Anyways so we got the perfect tree and headed home.

We got home and I saw all of the pictures and had to post so everyone could see MY DAY!!! ha actually so I could put more pics of MalaKai on there because let's be honest the only reason anyone looks at my blog is for him, and that's alright because that's the only reason I look at anyone else's ha kidding. So Heather is cooking me a turkey right now along with mashed potatoes gravy corn and stuffing. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Birthday and Thanksgiving??? So we are going to eat go look at the christmas lights on the temple and down main street than come home for ice cream and cake and a movie. I'll say it's one of the best days!!!
Oh ya presents, Well I got a package in the mail from mom with M & M's MMMMMMM and kisses along with 26 bucks byu football and an awesome card. She also got me much needed garments. THANKS MOM!!! MalaKai (Heather) made me a book. Seriously I want all of you to see it. Everything seriously was made by Heather and has pictures of me and him throughout it with comments. Than the last page was MalaKai's page. Heather smeared his hands with paint and let him smear it all over for his design ha. Heather took his hand full of paint and painted and I Heart U dad I love it so much!!! Heather got me ties peanut butter M & M's and a GIANT football Mug!!. So fun!! greatest thing is that I still have three presents to open from her and she says the best is yet to come.
Anyways I feel like this is a journal entry of my day ha. I just had to share how fun and exciting my day was. All but about two of the pictures on this slide show are from today so enjoy (it will be you were right there with us ha ha)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!

MY MOM

The four of us had so much fun when my mom was in town. So fun going to the new St George Tabernacle park, just enjoying the weather and the scenary. Almost felt as if I were with Grandma Bev how much mom just enjoyed sitting there talking and just being in the moment. I'm not going to lie when my mom was here I hated it. Actually I loved every minute of it except for the consumption of food she made me eat. I was 278 lbs the day she arrived and when she left I weighed 291. Now I see why I gained so much weight living at home I just love her cooking and love the portions she gives me. Other than the weight I gained I loved her being here and the fun we had. I don't think I can thank her enough for everything she has ever done for me. She was such a big help for Heather and I. Always making us laugh of course (especially playing card games with her and trying to explain the rules ha ha... fun stuff. Thanks Mom for everything. Heather MalaKai and myself love you very much!!!

I LOVE THIS GAME!!

There is 31 days until college football begins! How exciting is that news? There are so many things that get me excited about football season. I decided I would make a top five list (Jamie style) of reasons I love football season so much.
(not really in any order just a list)

5. Tailgating
Honestly there is nothing like a good tailgate party. It's almost as good as the game itself. (I'm still in the process of learning how to really tailgate. only problem is that it takes alot of money ha). Fans gather together hours before the game to sit eat and relax. To me it is really just a peacefull time getting with family sitting around and talking about past tailgates and old times. All of it preparing for the main event. #1 thing you need to have at a tail gate is a bbq. Food is an essential if you plan on being there all day. EVERYONE LOVES FOOD!! Chairs are also essential. For the crazy fans that like to stand all game it is neccessary that they sit while tailgating. Water!!! keep hydrated! and of course you need some good tailgating games. All in all if you have never tailgated before it is a must that you do so. It makes the whole experience of the game that much better.

4. THE BAND
You cannot have football without the band. I know everyone in high school and even college makes fun of the "band geeks". The band sets the mood for the game. it sets the mood in the stadium. nothing like singing your teams fight song with the band backing you up. So let's stop the making fun and just enjoy the music. "RISE AND SHOUT" "hey hey baby, I want to know, if you'll be my girl"
3. Dedication
The dedication of each player, coaches and teams is absolutely amazing. Hours upon hours are spent preparing each week for each new opponent. Not only during the actuall season but all year long. If you know anything about football you know how hard it is to succeed. Time, work, and dedication are the essential things you need to put in to succeed in this game. I applaud the athletes that put so much time and effort into this. I didn't play much football but the short years I did was tough but so worth it. THANKS GUYS (and even gals that work hard as staff)
2. THE GAME
The game is unlike any other (ha okay rugby). The helmets the shoulder pads the field. How this game has evolved is incredible. The fact that you need all 11 guys on your team to perform to perfection for each play to work is incredible. The discipline of the game. The rules of the game. The "get out of my face" catches of the game. The "are you serious" reactions to a good play. The "oh snaps" he just got laid out hits of the game. The YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH yelling of fans when you make the game winning field goal. The game is beautiful!!!

1. TRADITION
Every year in each college town someone is waiting for the season to begin so they can continue their own tradition. My brother jake and I have started a tradition in the Probert family. Every year on the day of the first game we will be hiking Y mountain. It's a tradition brought on by the love of the game and a family. Who knows what other family has similar traditions to this. So many traditions throughout all of the nation. Which bring us all together. Tradition of teams like the 12th man at Texas A and M. Or even at BYU with a team fireside every week. Tradition is exciting and that is why it is a part of my love of football.

I love football. I cannot wait for it to be here. This is going to be a good year.
LETS DO IT COUGS!!!!

ONE LOVE (for NATE)

One Love. What do these two words mean? My long lost brother Nate has made this his wonderful saying and thought recently, and it has too caught my attention. What exactly does it mean you may ask. Let me refer you to Elder Bednar and his talk in the last General Conference titled "Clean Hands And A Pure Heart". (If you haven't heard this or read it please do). In this wonderful talk Elder Bednar speaks of turning everything over to the gospel and the Lord. When we really turn our lives to the lord we have one desire, ("ONE LOVE"). We don't just do good because we are supposed too, but because it is our hearts desire. The desire to progress and get better in the lord is a great way of purifying our heart, giving us that "One Love".
Heather is teaching relief society this week on this talk and has shared her amazing thoughts with me on this. She is one of the best examples of having that "One Love". She not only works hard at serving the lord, but has the strongest desire to do so. Myself on the other hand I do try to do my part but find myself still not 100%. I am still working hard to completely put the lord first in every decision every thought and just everything I do. It's hard when the world tells us and trys to convince us otherwise on this.
So that is how I define "One Love" in my life. To be completely consumed with a desire to follow the lord.
Enjoy life, Enjoy getting better through struggles, Enjoy company, Enjoy "ONE LOVE"
last but not least "One love, One heart, let's get together and feel alright". Bob Marley. You think I could post a blog without MR Marley in it ha.
Nate keep this as your wonderful saying I love it. "ONE LOVE"

Light up the Darkness

I love all of the headings of each individual blog. I love that in a sense it desribes each of you. I just wanted to explain why I chose "Light up the darkness" to be mine. In the movie "I Am Legend" Will Smith reffers to Bob Marley and how he wanted to light up the darkness in the world. Meaning to light up the darkness in people. For some reason that has hit and stuck with me. I think that is what it means when people say let your light so shine. We all know that there is alot of darkness in the world today. That there is alot of hate and evil corrupting the world. I honestly think it is my responsibility to light up peoples darkness they have created. Let my spirit shine into their hearts. Let my love of life be an inspiration to those who have come down with the disease of sin and darkness. There is nothing like seeing the light of christ in someone. Like in the movie Stardust when the star is happy in life and in the moment the star starts to glow. That is how it is with people that have the spirit so strong in their lives they glow. I want to glow. I want to see everyone glowing. My greatest joy is that of anothers smile. That of someone who has overcome and seen the vision of overcoming there own darkness. My joy comes from others joy in life. From seeing how happy one can be. From that of a close family who loves and supports eachother.
"Singing don't worry, about a thing... Cause every little thing is going to be all right". How true is this amazing Bob Marley song. Life brings us little and big trials and we have to understand that we have to push through the dark times to find that light that shines so bright. Every little thing is going to be alright, I promise you. Work through the down times in your life. Understand the big picture, the picture of eternity. Understand that you are going through the dark to understand the power of the light. As my amazing kid brother Nate is witnessing very strongly that every little thing is going to be alright. Nate bro I love you man. Anyways, I just want you all to know that I want you to light up the darkness in your lives. Try to light up the darkness in those that you are surrounded by, by sharing your love. By sharing the light that you hold. Our mission on earth is to build up His kingdom. What are we doing if we keep our knowledge of the light that is the gospel to ourselves. Share the word of the resurection. Share the word of a ladder day prophet. Share the word of joy and peace in lighting up the darkness. By sharing these things your light will become fuller and brighter and you will glow like a star. I love life and I want to follow what I have written. Light up the darkness and you will be happy!

Is blogging the answer?

This blog will come as a big surprize to most of you. "McKay is finally blogging" I hear in my head from family members (Jamie, oldest sister of mine 28) the main one. It's true I am finally starting my own "talk about myself" blog. Don't get me wrong I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the blogs of my family and have really wanted to share thoughts and comments of my own. I just am having trouble finding the time to sit down and get one started. It also does not help that I rarely have a chance to get on the internet. With full time school and a full time work schedule I hope you all can understand my lack of communication with you. Oh ya I forgot to mention my addiction to sports that consumes alot of my time as well. But, here I am and am excited to start sharing ideas thoughts and concerns about life, sports, family, religion, and bob marley. I am excited because writing is a very theraputic thing for me. It allows my mind to go places that it can't go otherwise. I can share so much of my feelings that I rarely get to speak out loud. I can feel like my opinion is out there. Like I am apart of something. So hello to my fellow bloggers. I am proud to have joined the trend and become a communicator the world that surrounds me.
